Privacy Policy
The short version
Your course progress stays in the app's on-device storage. Depending on your Apple or Google device-backup settings, an encrypted operating-system backup may also contain app data. The app has no Escape Nicotine account, analytics, advertising, or tracking. The website separately offers an optional Field Kit email series and optional Google Analytics and Meta advertising measurement, described below. Apple or Google and our purchase-validation provider, RevenueCat, separately process an anonymous app identifier and purchase history when purchases are checked.
Course data stored on your device

This course data stays in the app's local storage, subject to any encrypted device backup you enable with Apple or Google. There is no account, sign-up, email capture, analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking in this version.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play). RevenueCat processes an anonymous app-user identifier, device or platform identifiers needed for purchase validation, and purchase or receipt history so the app can unlock and restore the course. We do not send RevenueCat your course progress, Lock-In answers, wave log, Ambush reminders, email address, or name.
Your controls
- Export: Settings → "Export my data" produces a JSON file of your locally stored course data and the anonymous purchase support ID used for support requests.
- Delete: Settings → "Delete everything" erases locally stored course data. Current builds also cancel scheduled Ambush reminders; if an older build leaves a reminder behind, disable Escape Nicotine notifications in system settings. This does not erase App Store, Play, or RevenueCat transaction records.
- Purchase-data request: Email your App Store or Play order/transaction ID to support@escapenicotine.com. If your Settings → "Export my data" file includes an anonymous purchase support ID, send that too. We use either identifier to locate a RevenueCat app-user record for a deletion request, subject to records Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or applicable law must retain.
This website and optional advertising cookies
With your permission, escapenicotine.com uses Meta Pixel (ID 1669106888111898) to measure visits associated with our Facebook and Instagram advertising. The pixel loads only after you choose Allow advertising cookies. Choosing Decline keeps it off, and the website remains fully usable.
When enabled, the pixel sends a page-view event to Meta along with information such as the page address, referring page, IP address, browser/device information and cookie identifiers. Meta may use this information to measure and personalize advertising and may associate it with a Meta account, as described in Meta's Privacy Policy. Meta may set advertising cookies, including _fbp and _fbc.
Our integration sends page views. We have disabled automatic event detection and do not configure the pixel to send questionnaire answers, course progress, names, email addresses or purchases. The pixel is on this public website only; it is not part of the Escape Nicotine app. Book purchases are completed on external retailer websites and are governed by their privacy policies.
Your advertising preference is stored in this browser's local storage for up to 180 days. You can change or withdraw permission through Cookie settings in any page's footer. Withdrawing permission stops future pixel activity and removes this website's Meta advertising cookies; it does not erase information already received by Meta. Clearing browser storage also resets your choice. A browser Global Privacy Control signal keeps the pixel disabled.
Optional website analytics
With your separate permission, this website uses Google Analytics 4 to count page visits and individual link clicks, including the Audible, Kindle, Apple Books and paperback links on the book page. It also measures book-page scroll milestones (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) and the start of an approved on-page audio sample. Google loads only after you choose Allow analytics cookies. Choosing Decline analytics keeps it off. This choice is independent of Meta advertising cookies, and either choice leaves the site fully usable.
When enabled, Google receives page addresses with query parameters and fragments removed, the referring website's origin, fixed link labels and destinations without query parameters, a scroll percentage or fixed audio-sample name and duration, browser/device information and analytics cookie identifiers. Ordinary network requests also expose your IP address to Google. Our code does not send names, email addresses, form contents, questionnaire answers, course progress or purchases. Email links are counted as a generic contact action. Advertising signals and advertising personalization are disabled, and Google advertising consent remains denied. Google handles data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Analytics cookies such as _ga and _ga_* help distinguish browsers; they do not prove how many distinct people clicked. Your analytics choice is remembered in this browser's local storage for up to 180 days. Use Analytics settings in any footer to change it. Withdrawal stops future analytics activity, removes this website's Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page to unload Google's library; it does not erase data already received by Google. A browser Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics disabled. Blocking cookies or scripts, declining consent or clearing storage affects measurement. Retailer link clicks do not confirm a purchase.
Optional Field Kit email series
The signup form is hosted by Brevo. Viewing the embedded form connects your browser to Brevo’s form and asset services and exposes ordinary connection information, including an IP address and browser information. It is separate from this website’s optional Google Analytics and Meta advertising cookies.
The form asks for an email address and explicit permission to send the free Field Kit and three short follow-up emails over nine days. The confirmation email comes first; after confirmation, the four-email series begins with the PDF delivery. Each series email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the remaining series emails. No ongoing newsletter is included.
The form does not ask for nicotine-use history, health information, course answers or payment details. Keep reflection notes private and do not send sensitive health information in a reply. Our website analytics code does not receive email addresses or form contents. Brevo’s anonymous engagement setting is enabled for both transactional and campaign emails: opens and clicks are counted without linkage to individual contacts; UTM tagging is off. Transactional logs are retained for one month; individual message previews are not stored in those logs.
Email addresses, confirmation/consent records and unsubscribe records are held in Brevo separately from the transactional logs. Completing the series stops its emails; it does not itself erase contact records. Use the contact details below to request access, correction or deletion. A minimal suppression record may be kept to respect an unsubscribe request.

App update checks
Some earlier app builds check Expo's update service at launch. That request can include ordinary network metadata plus the app, platform and version; it does not include your course progress, Lock-Ins, wave log or Ambush reminders. Future store builds disable this update check and ship app changes through Apple or Google.
Age
Escape Nicotine is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly process purchase data for anyone under 18.
Health note
Escape Nicotine is an educational program, not medical advice or a medical device. If you use prescribed nicotine-replacement products or medication, talk to your prescriber before changing anything.
Changes
If a future version changes these practices, this policy and the app's store privacy labels will say so plainly.
